Men's Basketball: Liss earns NABC All-District and D3Hoops.com All-Region honors

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Capping off a historic senior season, Norwich University men's basketball standout Owen Liss (West Suffield, Conn.) has been named to both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III All-District District 1 Second Team and the D3Hoops.com All-Region 1 Third Team.  Liss is one of only two Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) players to receive All-Region recognition from both organizations, joining Saint Joseph's College of Maine's Remijo Wani.

The NABC All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Div. III, recognizing the top players in each region for their on-court excellence.  The D3Hoops.com All-Region teams, now in their 24th season, are selected by a panel of sports information directors and D3Hoops.com staff, spotlighting the top players from the 10 Div. III regions.  Liss's inclusion on both prestigious lists further solidifies his status as one of the premier players in New England.

Hamilton College's Hank Morgan was named the Player of the Year for both the NABC District 1 and D3Hoops.com Region 1 teams.

This latest distinction adds to an already impressive list of postseason awards for Liss, who was recently named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive season.  He led the GNAC in scoring with 21.5 points per game while ranking among the league leaders in multiple categories, including fourth in field goal percentage (56.7%), eighth in free throw percentage (83.0%), and fourth in rebounds per game (8.8).  He also paced the conference in blocked shots with 44 while handing out 53 assists.

His achievement places him among an elite group in program history, joining past Norwich greats who have earned national recognition.  The Cadets have produced two NABC All-Americans in their history, with Kelvin Jenkins earning the honor in the 1988-89 season and Joe Marcewicz receiving the distinction in 1976-77.  His D3Hoops.com All-Region selection makes him eligible for D3Hoops.com All-America consideration, with those teams set to be announced on Mar. 22 at the national championship game.

Liss's senior campaign was highlighted by a milestone moment on Dec. 8, 2024, when he scored his 1,000th career point against Elmira College in the opening game of the 2024 Ed Hockenbury Classic.  Days later, he became the first Norwich player to be named U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Div. III National Player of the Week, while also earning back-to-back GNAC Player of the Week honors.

The West Suffield, Conn. native concluded his career one of the most decorated players in Norwich history, including as Norwich's sixth all-time leading scorer with 1,391 career points, along with 614 rebounds, 139 assists, 112 blocks, and 91 steals.  His 58.7% career field goal percentage ranks second all-time in program history, trailing only Jon Ford '84.

Behind Liss's leadership, the Cadets finished the 2024-25 season with a 17-9 overall record and an 8-6 mark in GNAC play, advancing to the GNAC Quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.
