Men's Basketball: Cadets to host open practice in Andrews Hall on Oct. 25

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's basketball program will host a free open practice session on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11:00 a.m. inside Andrews Hall, offering area coaches and basketball enthusiasts a unique opportunity to observe the Cadets in action.

The event is free and open to all high school and youth coaches, and will include refreshments and a Q&A session with the Norwich coaching staff following the conclusion of practice.  Attendees will be able to take in a live practice led by the Cadet staff, observe drills and team instruction, and engage in open dialogue with the Norwich coaches to discuss teaching philosophies, program culture, and more.

The session will be helmed by Head Coach Paul Booth, now entering his 33rd season leading the Cadets and his 37th season as a collegiate head coach.  Booth recorded a major milestone during the 2024-25 campaign, becoming the 33rd active NCAA Division III men's basketball coach to reach 400 career wins, following a historic victory over New England College on Feb. 12.  He closed the season with 401 wins, including 51 at Thomas College (1988-92) and 350 at Norwich since taking the reins in 1993.  He remains the program's all-time winningest coach, surpassing Ed Hockenbury's 182-win at 2008.

Norwich wrapped up the 2024-25 season with a 17-9 overall record and an 8-6 mark in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, securing a second-straight appearance in the GNAC Quarterfinals.

The Cadets will open the 2025-26 campaign on Friday, Nov. 7, when they host SUNY Canton in Andrews Hall.

Coaches or programs interested in attending the open practice are encouraged to reach out with any questions to Coach Booth at 802-498-4032.
