Men's Swimming & Diving: Bylow named Swimmer of the Week, Wettig collects fourth Rookie award, Adlianitski lands on Honor Roll

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Norwich University men's swimming & diving team continued to pile up early-season recognition from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), as sophomore Drew Bylow (Monroe, Mich.) earned his first-career GNAC Swimmer of the Week award, sophomore Gabe Wettig (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) was named GNAC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, and junior Kristian Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.) landed on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

The Cadets capped their fall home slate with a 124-93 win over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday morning inside Goodyear Pool, closing out a perfect three-meet homestand behind strong mid-meet performances and a trio of key contributors.

Bylow powered the Cadets throughout the morning, collecting a pair of individual wins and helping lead Norwich to an early relay victory.  He opened with a 1:51.00 finish in the 200-yard freestyle and later added a win in the 50-yard butterfly (24.43), pacing both events from start to finish.  Bylow also led off the Cadets' 400-yard medley relay squad, which posted a 3:46.96 to take first and set the tone.

The weekly honor is the first GNAC Swimmer of the Week plaudit of Bylow's career, after earning a program-record seven Rookie of the Week nods during the 2024-25 season.

Wettig turned in another all-around effort in the victory, scoring in three events.  He placed second in the 100-yard freestyle (52.21) and took third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.27), before anchoring the Cadets' winning 400-yard medley relay group.  The honor marks his fourth GNAC Rookie of the Week selection.

Adlianitski remained a fixture in the sprint events, notching a pair of individual wins to anchor the Cadets' front-line speed.  He claimed top honors in the 50-yard freestyle (22.23) and 100-yard freestyle (49.93), while swimming the breaststroke leg in the Cadets' victorious medley relay team.  The Honor Roll nod is his first after earning Swimmer of the Week plaudits twice earlier this season.

Norwich has now earned GNAC weekly recognition in four of the first five weeks of the season.  Four different Norwich swimmers have been honored this year, with Bylow, Adlianitski, Wettig, and Andrew Clark (Acworth, Ga.) all receiving recognition.

The Cadets will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15, traveling to face Saint Michael's College in a dual meet at 11:00 a.m., before heading to SUNY Potsdam the following weekend for the two-day North Country Invitational.
