WINTHROP, Mass. - For the third time this season, and for the second consecutive week, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honored
Seth Varin (Danielson, Conn.) as its Runner of the Week, the Conference announced Monday afternoon.
Varin continues to raise the bar, as his time of 27:09.22 at Saturday's 8K James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State, beat his previous best 8K time from the week before. Like his performance on his home course on Oct. 3, Varin's time was the best in the conference as he continues to make program history with the best 8K time in six years.
This marks the fourth time in his career that Varin has been honored by the GNAC. On top of repeating as Runner of the Week, he won it on Sept. 8 after his performance at the Maple Syrup Challenge. Before that, he received Rookie of the Week plaudits on Oct. 16, 2023.
Varin will look to continue his strong senior campaign, as the Cadets will travel to Western New England on Oct. 18 in their final race before hosting the GNAC Championships for the second straight year on Sunday, Nov. 2.
