Men's Swimming & Diving: Adlianitski, Bylow, Thompson recognized with Swimmer, Rookie, Honor Roll conference accolades

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Norwich University men's swimming & diving team corralled another assortment of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards, as Martin Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.) earned his first GNAC Swimmer of the Week nod of the season, Drew Bylow (Monroe, Mich.) received another Rookie of the Week accolade, and Will Thompson (Downingtown, Pa.) was named to the GNAC Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

The Cadet men competed against one another on Saturday afternoon in a friendly Senior Day bout in the final home meet at Goodyear Pool this season.

Adlianitski was stellar in his first meet of the season in friendly competition as the Cheshire, Conn. native opened his day by swimming the final leg of the 200 medley relay team that claimed first on a 1:46.57 effort, before capturing his first individual win in the 100 butterfly on a 55.43 time.  His second individual victory came shortly after in the 100 freestyle on 50.10.  Adlianitski concluded his day by swimming the opening leg of the 200 freestyle relay team that posted a 1:31.82 effort to come in first place.

Bylow scooped up a few wins on Senior Day, securing his first individual victory in the 50 backstroke by touching the wall in 26.22 before returning later in the day to claim another individual win in the 400 IM on a 4:31.08 effort.  Bylow wrapped up his day by swimming the third leg of the 200 freestyle relay team that came in first on a 1:31.82 time.

Thompson was impressive on Saturday, hauling in four victories including two relay wins and two individual dubs.  He opened his day by swimming the second leg of the all-senior 200 medley relay that finished in 1:46.57 before earning his first individual win in the 50 breaststroke on a 27.62 effort.  He followed that later on in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a 1:02.13 to claim first, before closing his afternoon by swimming the second leg of the first-place 200 freestyle relay team that claimed a 1:31.82 time.

For Adlianitski, it marks his first award this season after the 2023 GNAC Swimmer of the Year captured two weekly accolades last season.  Bylow has been on a historic tear this season, receiving his sixth Rookie of the Week nod of the year, while Thompson, the reigning GNAC Swimmer of the Year, was a Swimmer of the Week recipient already this season.  The trio, alongside Kristian Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.), have all been recognized by the league throughout the 2024-25 campaign.

The Cadets will see action in one more dual meet this season, traveling to Plymouth State University on Saturday, Jan. 18, for a 12:00 p.m. bout.  Norwich will then take a select number of swimmers to the Middlebury Invitational in Middlebury, Vt., over Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, before all eyes turn to the three-day GNAC Championship, hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass., from Feb. 7 to Feb. 9.
