Box Score SALEM, Mass. – The Norwich University men's ice hockey team defeated Salem State 8-0 on Saturday afternoon in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action at Rockett Arena.
Norwich (6-2, 6-0 NEHC) stretched its NEHC unbeaten streak to 56-straight games with an 8-0 win over Salem State.
Junior Ann-Frederique Guay (St. Lambert-de-Lauzon, Quebec) had a four-point night, while Mikah Baptiste (Ottawa, Ontario), Julia Masotta (Tewksbury, Mass.), Melianne Reynolds (Sherbrooke, Quebec) each scored twice to lead the Norwich offense to the victory.
The Cadets had 13 different skaters on the scoresheet to sweep the six points on the weekend.
Masotta scored at the 11:24 mark of the first period and the Cadets never looked back. Norwich outshot Salem State 34-3 in the game.
Taylor Girouard (Burlington, Mass.) continued her breakout offensive weekend with two more assists. Kenady Nevicosi (Breckenridge, Colo.) also tallied two assists. Ingrid Holdstad-Berge (Stavanger, Norway), Aimee Headland (Nottingham, United Kingdom), Maddie Moell (Clarence Center, N.Y.), Ally LaGue (Barre, Vt.), Kayla Goleniak (Canton, Mich.), Jillian Jackson (Fredericton, New Brunswick) and Carly Gout (Bobcaygeon, Ontario) all tallied one assist.
Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.) stopped all three shots to picked up the shutout for the third time in her career.
Norwich will host the Northfield Savings Bank East-West Classic next Saturday and Sunday featuring one of the top fields in all of Division III hockey. The Cadets will host No. 8 Adrian at 4 p.m., while No. 4 Plattsburgh takes on No. 3 Elmira at 7 p.m. The consolation game will be Sunday at 1 p.m. with the championship to follow at 4 p.m.
