Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich women's ice hockey team had 16 different players on the score sheet in a 12-0 rout of Plymouth State on Monday night at Kreitzberg Arena in ECAC East action.
Renee Lortie, Sophie Leclerc and Sarah Scardino each potted two goals apiece to lead the NU offense. Lortie and Leclerc each had an assist as well to tie with Julie Fortier for the team-high of three points as the junior forward had a goal and two assists. Freshman defenseman Marie-Phillip Guay had three assists as well.
The Cadets (16-3-1, 13-0-1 ECAC East) got first period goals from Leclerc, Fortier, Lortie, and Kayla Parsons. Parsons' tally to make it 4-0 was deflected off a Plymouth State player's shoulder and into the back of the net for her first career goal in the Maroon and Gold.
Fortier tallied an assist on Lortie's goal for her 50th career assist.
Norwich outshot Plymouth State 29-1 in the first 20 minutes.
In the second period, Norwich added six more goals with tallies from Lortie, Haley Gibson, Leclerc, Meghan Papagno, Scardino and Jillayne DeBus. DeBus' goal made it 8-0 and was the 50th point of her career between her freshman year at Elmira College and this year at Norwich.
The Cadets capped the score sheet with two more tallies in the third period from Scardino and Kelsey Cone.
Norwich Freshman goalie Kelly Fisk made eight saves to pick up her first career shutout and second win of the season.
Plymouth State goaltender Ali Ponte turned aside 41 shots to drop to 0-18-1.
The Cadets were 3-for-4 on the power play with nine shots on goal. Norwich didn't take a single penalty while Plymouth State was whistled for four infractions for eight minutes.
Norwich needs three more points in its remaining four conference games to clinch home ice advantage and the ECAC East regular season crown for the first time. The Cadets are unbeaten in their last 10 games and remained perfect in 2011.
Manhattanville currently sits in second place out of D-III teams in the league with 21 points. The Cadets meet the Valiants on Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. on the regular season weekend finale at Kreitzberg Arena.
Norwich will hit the road for three straight games starting Friday when the Cadets take on red-hot Saint Anselm at 4 p.m. The Hawks have only lost once since the Cadets beat them 3-2 in overtime on Nov. 21.
