NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Norwich University women's ice hockey head coach
Justin Simpson has been named New England Division III Coach of the Year by the New England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA), while three Cadets earned Division II-III New England All-Star recognition.
Livia Brooks,
Maggie Hunter, and
Olivia Boyer were all named NEHWA All-Stars, as Norwich tied for the most selections in the region with three honorees.
The NEHWA recognized 18 Division III All-Stars from 11 institutions, including 11 seniors and three juniors. The organization will honor all recipients at its annual awards brunch on Sunday, April 19, at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts.
Simpson Earns Top Coaching Honor
In his first season at the helm, Simpson guided Norwich to one of the most historic campaigns in program history. The Cadets posted a 26-3 overall record, including a perfect 18-0 mark in Little East Conference (LEC) play, capturing both the conference's inaugural regular season and tournament championships.
Norwich enters the NCAA Frozen Four riding a 23-game winning streak, marking its first semifinal appearance since 2018. Simpson was also named LEC Coach of the Year and is a finalist for National Coach of the Year honors.
"This award truly reflects our entire program and the collective effort that goes into our success each day," Simpson said. "Our coaching staff, support staff, and players have all committed themselves fully to this team and to one another. Our players have been incredibly selfless, always putting their teammates and the team first, and that commitment is a big reason we've been able to have such a special season."
Brooks Continues Historic Career
Brooks earned NEHWA All-Star honors to cap another remarkable season, adding to her national accolades that include AHCA First-Team All-American and DIII Hockey News First-Team All-American recognition.
The junior winger became just the second three-time All-American in program history, joining Amanda Conway '20. She was named LEC Player of the Year after leading the conference with 36 points, while tying for the league lead in goals (19) and ranking third in assists (17).
Brooks recorded two hat tricks during the season and surpassed the 100-career point milestone in the NCAA Quarterfinals, becoming the 14th player in program history to reach the mark.
Hunter Shines in Rookie Campaign
Hunter earned NEHWA All-Star honors following a dominant first collegiate season, highlighted by AHCA First-Team All-American and DIII Hockey News First-Team All-American selections along with LEC Rookie of the Year recognition.
The first-year defenseman led all Division III rookie defenders with 26 points, ranking seventh nationally among blueliners and fourth in assists (20). She becomes the first Norwich defenseman to earn All-American honors since Samantha Benoit '21 in 2020.
A key contributor across all special teams units, Hunter delivered one of the most productive seasons ever by a first-year defenseman in program history.
Boyer Reaches Milestone Season
Boyer was named a NEHWA All-Star after a standout senior campaign that also included DIII Hockey News Second-Team All-American honors.
The senior captain became the 13th player in program history to reach 100 career points while leading the LEC with 21 assists. She also ranked among conference leaders in faceoff percentage, continuing to serve as a cornerstone of Norwich's success.
Brunet Adds National Honors in Net

Madison Brunet added to Norwich's decorated season with AHCA Third-Team All-American and DIII Hockey News Third-Team All-American honors.
In her first season as the team's starter, Brunet became the first goaltender in program history to earn All-American recognition. She anchored one of the nation's top defensive units, helping Norwich post the second-best scoring defense in Division III.
Brunet recorded nine shutouts—part of the Cadets' Division III-leading 14 on the season—setting a new single-season program record.
