Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. – The Norwich women's ice hockey team used a balanced offense led by three points each from sophomore defenseman Kayla Lascelle (Cornwall, Ontario) and junior forward Jackie Perez (San Gabriel, Calif.) to chase two-time reigning ECAC East Goalie of the Year Teraysa White en route to an 8-1 win over New England College on Saturday afternoon.
Lascelle and Perez each had a goal and two assists while the Cadets (3-1-0, 2-0-0 ECAC East) also got two more goals from freshman forward Kaycie Anderson (Maple Plain, Minn.), who continued her brilliant start to her first season in the Maroon & Gold.
After Perez and Anderson scored to give the Cadets a 2-0 lead, Lascelle scored her first career goal at the 5:34 mark of the second period to stretch the lead to three off an assist from Perez.
Tyne Gove (Berwick, Ontario) scored her second goal in as many games with one second left in the second period to make it 4-0 heading into the second intermission.
Norwich opened it up in the third period, pouring in four more goals with one each from Anderson, Melissa Rundlett (Saco, Maine), Julie Fortier (Saint-Malachie, Quebec) and Renee Lortie (Cornwall, Ontario).
Madeleine Gustafsson broke up Norwich goalie Kelly Fisk's bid for the shutout with the lone New England College goal at the 14:56 mark of the third period to make it 7-1 before Lortie capped the scoring less than 40 seconds later with her third goal of the season off assists from Carolyn Valentine (Lake Placid, N.Y.) and Sarianne Lynn (Wethersfield, Conn.).
Fisk (Hannibal, N.Y.) made 16 saves to improve to 2-0-0 on the season. White stopped 48 shots in 52 minutes of game action and was saddled with the loss for NEC.
Norwich outshot New England College 64-17 and had 12 different players get on the score sheet in the Cadets' fifth straight win over the Pilgrims. NU extended its ECAC East regular season unbeaten streak to 23 games with the victory as well.
The Cadets return home to Kreitzberg Arena next weekend to host Plymouth State on Friday at 7 p.m. and then Southern Maine on Saturday at 3 p.m. Both games are ECAC East contests.
