Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich women's soccer team won its fourth straight game with a huge 5-1 win over Albertus Magnus on Saturday afternoon at Howard Field on Homecoming Weekend.
During the four-game winning streak, the Cadets have scored 30 goals and are now averaging 4.67 goals per game, which ranks third in the nation.
Junior forward Brittany Casey notched her 10th and 11th goals of the season and chipped in an assist as well to lead the Cadets' offense with a five-point day.
Casey opened the scoring in the 11th minute by depositing a through ball from senior Kacey Abbriano near post and past Albertus Magnus goalkeeper Christina Dineson to her right.
Sophomore midfielder Baylie Lamarre continued her breakout year by stretching the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted strike that deflected off an Albertus Magnus defender and into the back of the net. The goal was Lamarre's sixth of the season after she tallied just one last year.
Albertus Magnus cut into the Cadets' lead less than five minutes into the start of the second half when Amanda Roke kissed a free kick from 19 yards out off the inside of the far post and into the back of the net to make it 2-1.
However, that's as close as Albertus Magnus would get as Courtney Parisot answered less than four minutes later with her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Casey. Parisot tipped the ball past Dineson after Casey sent a crossing pass from the left to make it 3-1.
Casey scored her second goal of the day in the 65th minute when she booted home a crossing pass from Grace Fitzpatrick after Parisot started the play with a through ball down the line to spring Fitzpatrick open to space.
Julia Lovely capped the scoring in the 89th minute with her third goal of the season off an assist from Alex Frank. Frank dribbled around two Albertus Magnus defenders and then fended off a third long enough to send a crossing pass to Lovely who finished it off.
Meghan Kennedy improved to 5-1 on the year after making five saves on six shots on net. Dineson took the loss for the Falcons after making eight saves on 13 shots on net.
Norwich outshot Albertus Magnus 17-11.
The Cadets now sit in sole possession of third place in the GNAC standings behind Lasell and Johnson & Wales. NU will look to make it five in a row on Wednesday when it hosts Simmons at 3:30 p.m. at Howard Field. The game will be video streamed live on www.nsnsports.net/norwich.
