Biography

2010: Tallied one win in four starts during junior campaign ... made two additional appearances ... racked up 12 strikeouts over 17.2 innings ... allowed only three extra-base hits.

2009: Had six starts over nine appearances as a sophomore ... had 19 strikeouts over 39.2 innings.  

2008: Went 2-3 in six starts for the Cadets as a freshman ... made one relief appearance ... had 15 strikeouts in 32 innings of work.

BEFORE NORWICH: Played four years of varsity baseball at New London High School ... also ran two years of indoor track and one year of cross country ... Was named a CIAC and an Army scholar-athlete ... played three years of senior Babe Ruth.

PERSONAL: Son of Robert Caird ... son of Bonnie Penman ... has three siblings ... is working with NASA for his senior project ... played semi-pro baseball in the Eastern Connecticut Major Leagues from 2008-10 ... is a SSgt. in the Norwich Corps of Cadets and battalion commander of the school's Naval ROTC detachment ... majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
