NORTHFIELD, Vt. – National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) announced its 2025-26 Division II Scholastic All-Americans on Tuesday, June 16, recognizing student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence both academically and athletically. Norwich University Men's Rugby seniors Jeff Pappalardo (Boxford, Mass.) and Dumisanda Janda (Harare, Zimbabwe) were among those honored with the prestigious national recognition.
The NCR Scholastic All-American designation is awarded to student-athletes who excel in the classroom while maintaining a high level of performance and commitment on the rugby pitch. The honor reflects the dedication required to balance the demands of collegiate athletics and academics while embodying the values of student-athlete success.
Incoming Head Coach Carrick Pell praised both seniors for their accomplishments and the example they have set within the Norwich Rugby program.
"Congratulations to Jeff Pappalardo and Dumisanda Janda on earning Academic All-American honors," said Pell. "Academic excellence is an integral part of Norwich Rugby's culture; we are proud of their achievements in the classroom and on the pitch. They have set a standard for what it means to be a Norwich Rugby player as we continue to raise the bar and pursue excellence in every aspect of our program."
Throughout their careers, Pappalardo and Janda have played key roles in the success of the Cadets while demonstrating a commitment to academic achievement. Their recognition continues Norwich Rugby's tradition of developing student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.
Assistant Coach Austin Manhey '19 reflected on the impact the pair has had on the program during their four years in Northfield.
"For the past four years, it has been a privilege to coach these two exceptional student-athletes whose commitment to excellence has defined our program," said Manhey. "Earning Academic All-American honors is a testament not only to their talent on the pitch, but also to their discipline, leadership, and character off of it. They have set the standard for what it means to succeed as both competitors and scholars, and I could not be more proud of the legacy they leave behind."
The honor serves as a fitting recognition of the dedication, leadership, and perseverance both student-athletes have displayed throughout their Norwich careers. As graduates, Pappalardo and Janda leave a lasting impact on the Norwich Men's Rugby program and continue to exemplify the standards of excellence that define Cadet Rugby.
With the announcement, Norwich Men's Rugby adds two more names to its growing list of NCR Scholastic All-Americans, further reinforcing the program's commitment to success in competition, in the classroom, and beyond.
