Men's Tennis: Norwich earns 20th-straight win over VTSU Johnson, continue historic 2026 campaign

STOWE, Vt. - The Norwich University men's tennis team continued its record-setting spring on Saturday afternoon, earning a 6-1 victory over Vermont State University Johnson in Empire 8 Conference action at Topnotch Tennis Academy.

With the win, the Cadets improve to 11-1 overall and extend their winning streak to eight matches while remaining unbeaten in conference play.

Norwich secured the doubles point by taking two of their three courts.  Reynard Gan (Chandler, Ariz.) and Brandon Adamson (Londonderry, N.H.) delivered the first result of the afternoon with a 6-1 win over Mohammed Semega and Charlie Guyette at No. 2.  VTSU Johnson answered at the top flight, where Jack Senecal and Adiance Cheromiah defeated Ethan Teluk (Manlius, N.Y.) and Pierce Rohm (Queensbury, N.Y.), 6-3.

The deciding point came at No. 3 doubles by way of forfeit, giving Norwich a 1-0 edge heading into singles play.

The Cadets quickly added to their lead with a pair of convincing straight-set victories.  Adamson handled Guyette, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4, before Jack Desjardins (Nashua, N.H.) followed with a 6-2, 6-2 decision against Semega at No. 3.

The Badgers picked up their lone point at No. 1 singles, where Senecal earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Gan.

Norwich responded immediately at No. 2, as Rohm turned in a steady performance to defeat Cheromiah, 6-4, 6-1, restoring a three-point cushion for the Cadets.

Points at No. 5 and No. 6 were awarded to Norwich by forfeit, sealing the 6-1 conference result.

The victory marks Norwich's 20th straight win over the Badgers, a streak that dates back to a 7-2 decision inside Shapiro Fieldhouse on Apr. 12, 2012.  The win closes a season sweep for the Cadets, after a 6-1 non-conference victory against VTSU Johnson in mid-March.
