NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's tennis team continued its strong opening stretch to the 2026 campaign on Wednesday afternoon, securing its third consecutive victory with a commanding 6-1 triumph over intrastate rival Vermont State University Johnson in a non-conference matchup inside Shapiro Fieldhouse.
Norwich set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles contests to secure the match's opening point.
Ethan Teluk (Manlius, N.Y.) and
Jack Desjardins (Nashua, N.H.) opened play with a 6-3 victory on the No. 1 court against Adiance Cheromiah and Jack Senecal.
Brandon Adamson (Londonderry, N.H.) and
Pierce Rohm (Queensbury, N.Y.) followed with a decisive 6-1 result at No. 2 doubles over Mohammed Semega and Caitlyn Morey, while
Sean Horgan (Kennebunk, Maine) and
David Littlefield (Goffstown, N.H.) delivered the most dominant showing of the trio, blanking Charlie Guyette and Isabel Atkisson, 6-0, on the No. 3 court.
Momentum carried seamlessly into singles play, where the Cadets captured five of six matches to put the contest out of reach. Teluk led the charge on the No. 2 court with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Cheromiah, while Horgan matched the scoreline in his 6-1, 6-2 win against Semega at No. 3. Adamson also produced a composed performance at No. 4 singles, earning a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Morey.
Rohm came close to a flawless outing in the No. 5 slot, cruising past Guyette, 6-0, 6-1, while Littlefield recorded the day's most commanding result with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Atkisson on the No. 6 court.
VTSU Johnson claimed its lone team point in a tightly contested No. 1 singles matchup, where Senecal rallied past
Reynard Gan (Chandler, Ariz.) in a seesaw battle, 4-6, 7-6, 0-1, with the match ultimately decided by a 10-6 tiebreaker after the second game had been determined by a 7-5 tiebreaker in favor of Gan.
The victory marks Norwich's 19th straight win over the Badgers, a streak that dates back to a 7-2 decision inside Shapiro Fieldhouse on Apr. 12, 2012. The result also continues an impressive start to the season, as the Cadets improve to 3-0 through their opening three matches, their best start since the shortened 2021 campaign, when Norwich opened with two victories over Vermont State University Castleton and a win against Vermont State University Lyndon.
