WINTHROP, Mass.- It was a dominant week on the racecourse for the Norwich Women's Cross Country team, as they swept Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards for the week ending Sept. 7, courtesy of
Delaney Whitmarsh (North Yarmouth, Maine) and
Kaitlyn Moore (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) helping the Cadets take second place at the Maple Syrup Challenge.
Whitmarsh, the reigning GNAC Rookie of the Year, was Norwich's top finisher on the afternoon, finishing ninth at 21:33.78, earning Runner of the Week. She was a mainstay in the weekly awards her first year, taking Rookie of the Week five times, with two combined with Runner of the Week.
Moore is making her presence felt early in her collegiate career and earns Rookie of the Week after placing 12
th at the Maple Syrup Challenge. This performance comes on the heels of a ninth-place finish at the Charger Invitational on Aug. 30.
Both Whitmarsh and Moore, along with the rest of the Cadets, will look to continue their strong start to the season when they travel to St. Lawrence University to compete in the Hoffman Invitational on Sept. 20.
