WINTHROP, Mass. - After a team-leading performance over the weekend, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) named Norwich women's cross country freshman
Kaitlyn Moore (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) their Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon.
Moore spearheaded the Cadets at this week's Golden Bear Invitational, hosted by Western New England, with a 35
th place finish. She clocked a time of 25:22.55 on the 6K course, the best time for a GNAC rookie, and third-best among conference competitors.
This marks the second time this season the GNAC has bestowed Rookie of the Week honors on Moore. The first came on Sept. 8 for her performance at the Maple Syrup Challenge.
The honor marks the fifth consecutive season where a Cadet women's cross country runner has claimed multiple Rookie of the Week honors, following
Delaney Whitmarsh (North Yarmouth, Mass.) in 2024,
Joelle Moore (Swanton, Ohio) in 2023,
Elena Vargas in 2022, and
India Jones in 2021.
Moore and the Cadets will look to defend their home course when they host GNAC Championships on Nov. 2.
