CANTON, N.Y.- The Norwich University Women's Cross Country team turned in a steady pack performance at NCAA Mideast DIII Regionals, hosted by St. Lawrence University, with all four runners placing in the top 150, but not enough to register a place.
Heidi Edwards (Crestview, Fla.) led the Cadets with a strong, controlled race, finishing in 26:25.2 to take 126th overall. Edwards steadily moved up throughout the race, climbing 17 places from the first mile to the finish while closing with a final 2K split of 9:13.6.
Fellow rookie
Kaitlyn Moore (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) delivered another impressive performance just behind Edwards, crossing the line in 26:31.1 for 129th. Moore displayed consistent pacing, hitting the mile and two-mile marks in near-identical splits while posting one of the tightest back-half gaps in the field.
Junior
Joelle Moore (Swanton, Ohio) was next across in 26:36.1 for 133rd, matching Edwards' early positioning and surging over the final 1.5 miles to help solidify the Cadets' scoring block. Her closing 2K of 9:21.6 kept Norwich's top trio within 11 seconds of one another.
Ellery Shertzer (Conowingo, Md.) rounded out the scoring four, placing 146th in 27:16.5. Shertzer gained significant ground after the mile mark, moving up 17 spots at 2 miles and maintaining her pace through the final stretch.

The Cadets conclude their season, holding steady from last season's finish at Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, placing fourth, with
