WINTHROP, Mass.- The defending Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Champion Norwich men's cross-country team entered the GNAC weekly awards for the first time Monday, with
Seth Varin (Danielson, Conn.) and
Shea Parish (Barrington, R.I.) sweeping the awards after spearheading the Cadets to a third-place finish at the Maple Syrup Challenge Saturday afternoon at Vermont State Randolph.
After earning GNAC Honor Roll last week for posting a personal best time at the Charger Invitational the previous week, Varin earned Runner of the Week plaudits for posting a time of 28:17.66 at the Maple Syrup Challenge this week. This is Varin's first weekly award since earning Rookie of the Week in October 2023.
Parish earned Rookie of the Week honors after making an impact with his time of 29:40.07, finishing 26
th. This performance comes on the heels of an impressive debut at the Charger Invitational, where he placed fifth.
Norwich's quest to repeat continues this weekend when they compete in the Hoffman Invitational at St. Lawrence University on Sept. 20.
