Women's Swimming & Diving: Laitala earns fourth GNAC Diver of the Week of season, Allen, Gosselin recognized by league on Honor Roll

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Norwich University women's swimming & diving team continued its early-season run of conference recognition on Monday afternoon, as senior Reilly Laitala (Sterling, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Diver of the Week, while freshman Delaney Allen (Gibsonia, Pa.) and junior Anna Gosselin (Lisbon, Conn.) both landed on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll.

The Cadets capped a perfect three-meet homestand with a dominant 143-76 victory over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday morning at Goodyear Pool, winning 10 of 12 events behind another balanced team effort.

Laitala remained untouchable on the boards, posting a season-best score of 229.25 to win the six-dive optional round by more than 70 points.  The senior extended her unbeaten streak in 1-meter diving through the the first half of the season, notching her sixth consecutive sweep of the fall.

The weekly recognition is Laitala's 15th career honor, following a six-award campaign in 2024-25 and now four nods this season, further solidifying her status as one of the most decorated divers in conference history.

Allen powered the Cadets in the freestyle events and contributed across three winning efforts.  The rookie swam the third leg of the first-place 400-yard medley relay squad (4:39.81) to open the day, then went on to sweep her individual races with a 2:07.31 in the 200-yard freestyle and a 58.28 in the 100-yard freestyle.

Gosselin dominated the distance events, cruising to wins in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:22.99) and 500-yard freestyle (5:57.90).  She also swam the second leg of the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay (4:08.57), rounding out a consistent and high-scoring effort.

Norwich has now earned weekly recognition from the GNAC in four of the first five weeks of the season, with Laitala, Allen, Gosselin, Brandy Lewis (Strafford, Vt.), and Burgan Danger (Wadsworth, Ohio) all having been recognized this fall.

The Cadets will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15, traveling to face Saint Michael's College in an 11:00 a.m. dual meet before heading to SUNY Potsdam the following weekend for the two-day North Country Invitational.
