Women's Soccer: Cadets Fall to Blue Jays on Late Tally

NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich Women's Soccer team returned home to Sabine Field Saturday afternoon to continue Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play against the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) on senior day.

Throughout the first half, the Cadets held the upper hand in possession, tallying seven shot attempts and taking five corner kicks. Blue Jays goalkeeper Madison Corcoran made three saves in the first half to keep the contest scoreless, with Lily Briggs (Fair Haven, Vt.), Emma Korrow (Northfield, Vt.), and Kat Probst (Gouverneur, N.Y.) having Grade-A chances.

The second half was a similar story, as Norwich continued to pour on the pressure, but could not break through. Minutes after Corcoran came up with a late stop on Colby Magoon (Loudon, N.H.), the ball was in the USJ attacking third, and Alana Picard scored the lone tally of the contest in the 89th minute to give the Blue Jays the victory.

Before the game, the four members of the 2025-26 graduating class were honored for their contributions to the program. The members being Probst, Abby Kirrane (Lunenburg, Mass.), Bella Roy (Weare, N.H.), and Antonia Pellon (Pownal, Vt.).

Norwich will continue GNAC play when they take the short trip to Colby-Sawyer on Oct. 15 for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff.
