NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich Men's Rugby team held their home opener Saturday afternoon when they hosted their rivals from the University of Maine during Homecoming weekend in a rematch of last year's conference title game.
The Cadets opened the scoring with a
Logan Perry try in the corner 21 minutes in. Just before the half, the Black Bears answered with an unconverted try, making it a two-point game at the break.
The tides turned, as Perry pinned his man setting up a
Blake Wolliston try after running fifty meters to give Norwich a 12-7 lead to open a string of seven unanswered tries, including:
Kris Wayton with back-to-back tries, Wolliston,
Joe Whiteside, Perry, and Arnaud Germain in addition to three conversions bringing the final score to 48-7.
The Cadets will look to carry that momentum when they travel to the University of New Hampshire Sept. 28 with a 1 PM start.
