Women's Soccer: Duggan Makes History as Cadets Soar By Falcons

NORTHFIELD, Vt.- As the Alumni Weekend home games wound down, the Norwich Women's Soccer team played the second game of their six game homestand when they hosted Albertus Magnus Saturday night.

Early in the contest, Kat Probst (Gouverneur, N.Y.) tripped up in the box, drawing a penalty kick. On the opportunity, Lindsey Duggan (Belmont, N.H.) would make no mistake and bury the ball in the top right corner breaking the ice in the 10th minute. The converted opportunity set a program record for penalty kicks in a single season (4) and tied her for the career penalty kick record.

After some back and forth play, a ball sent from the right side into the box found Ejalam Bravo of the Falcons to tie the contest. The contest would go to the half tied at one, with Albertus leading in shots with most of them being taken from distance.

Early in the second half, a collision in front of the Norwich net forced Rebecca Karis (Fayetteville, N.C.) to leave the game in favor of sophomore keeper Hannah Jenkins (Manchester, N.H.) with Karis already having made two stops in the contest. After an early test from the Falcons, Norwich pressed the offense, generating several chances before breaking through. Off an Albertus foul, Duggan sent the ball from the right side of the midfield into the box, finding the head of Bella Roy (Weare, N.H.) as she collided with Falcon netminder Emma DeVico to put Norwich ahead for good. The Cadet defense held firm, protecting the house, and only allowing one shot on target down the stretch to preserve the 2-1 victory, the first of Jenkins's collegiate career.

Norwich will continue their homestand Sept. 25 when they take on Plymouth State in nonconference action at 7 PM.
