Baseball: Magical GNAC Tournament Run Ends at the Hands of JWU

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- After the most successful Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament run in program history, the 2024 Norwich Baseball campaign came to an end Sunday afternoon with the three-time defending GNAC Champions from Johnson & Wales emerging victorious from both games.

With the Wildcats facing elimination in game one, they turned to starter Max Randazzo who was nearly untouchable and kept the Cadet bats quiet. Offensively, JWU jumped ahead in the third and never looked back setting up a winner take all game two.
As the wind whipped, the Wildcats kept their foot on the gas in game two before the Cadets answered in the fourth. The inning started with a Geffen Franus (Leesburg, Va.) double. After moving to third on a wild pitch, Brock Carpenter (East Berlin, Pa.) brought him home with a single. After JWU padded their lead, Norwich closed the gap with an RBI single by Michael Sabasteanski (Ashburn, Va.). Sabasteanski would also come home on a two run double by Jakob Hayes (Arlington, Texas), who ended up two for three. A fifth run was added on in the ninth, with Isaac Parker (Jay, Maine) driving in Tyler O'Neill (Danvers, Mass.).

The Cadets close out their season winners in eight of their last twelve contests between the regular season and postseason. Ten seniors completed their tenure in maroon and gold, along with long-time head coach Frank Pecora.
