FORT PIERCE, Fla.- The Norwich Baseball team continued their swing through Florida with a doubleheader against Lebanon Valley on Sunday afternoon.
Game one started out as a pitcher's duel between junior
Jordan Talbot (Belchertown, Mass.) and Dutchmen right hander Shane Stossel. The pitcher's duel kept the game scoreless until the bottom of the third when the Dutchmen pushed a run across.
In the following inning, the Cadets would tie things up. After a
Geffen Franus (Leesburg, Va.) single, and a
Brock Carpenter (East Berlin, Pa.) double, two consecutive walks would bring Franus home from third to even the score. The Dutchmen would respond by plating three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.
Lebanon Valley kept the momentum going in game two scoring four runs in the top of the first and not looking back. After the game was suspended in the third due to rain, the Cadets broke the shutout in the seventh with an RBI single by
Tyler Callahan (Arlington, Mass.).
Norwich's spring break trip will roll on with a night game against Capital on March 5 at 7 PM. Â
