HOUSTON, Texas- After fighting tooth and nail with the defending champions from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Friday night, the Norwich Men's Rugby team returned to the pitch Sunday afternoon to battle Towson in the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) National Third Place game.
Playing with the wind advantage, the Cadets took possession quickly and punched it into the try zone with
Jeff Pappalardo taking a
Blake Wolliston pass the distance to break the ice with
Kris Wayton notching a successful conversion at the end. Soon after, a kick by Jared Robertson would set up a Will Moulton score extending the lead to 12.
The Tigers answered with a score, but Moulton would punch it in again extending the Norwich lead to 14, and eventually 21 with
Logan Perry setting up a
Sebastian Yates try. Wayton and Peterson would also score to give the Cadets a 38-5 lead heading into the break. Out of the half, the two side would trade scores before the Cadets would score four straight tries, widening the gap to 57 before Towson answered.
