MARSHFIELD, Mass.- In the final week of the regular season, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) named two members of the Norwich Football team to their weekly awards.
The Conference named middle linebacker
Shayne Leddy (Spring Lake, N.J.) their Defensive Athlete of the Week. Leddy finished off a stellar senior campaign with a career-high in total tackles (15), with nine of them being solo tackles. He added in a tackle for loss of a yard, a pass breakup and an interception. He finished the season third in the NEWMAC in total tackles (93), and tops in the conference in tackles for loss (14-32).
Along with Leddy, the NEWMAC named graduate student
Jehric Hackney (Jericho, Vt.) their Special Teams Athlete of the Week. On three kickoff returns, Hackney totaled 94 yards highlighted by an 83 yards return putting the Cadets in field goal range. He is one of the top return specialists in the conference, sitting first in total return yards (673), and third in average yards per return (24.9).
The Cadets finished their 2024 campaign with a narrow, hard-fought defeat at the hands of Salve Regina.
