NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich Football team took to their home turf for the final time in the 2024 season Saturday afternoon when they hosted the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) after they celebrated the 21 members of their graduating class.
Both offenses struggled to move the ball early, as defenses reigned. On a drive that carried into the second quarter, the Engineers worked their way into field goal range but would come up empty as the attempt was blocked. With the Cadet offense pinned deep in their own territory, MIT would capitalize on a pick six to open the scoring. On their next two drives, MIT would further their lead with two successful field goals before building a three-score lead by halftime and add another touchdown late.
Defensively,
Shayne Leddy (Spring Lake, N.J.) led the way with 12 total tackles, three for loss and a pass breakup. Both
Eli Leblanc (Hollis Center, Maine) and
Elijah Torres (Bronx, N.Y.) tallied eight total tackles with Torres forcing a fumble, and Leblanc having two of Norwich's nine pass breakups.
Norwich will close out their season Saturday Nov. 16 with a trip to Salve Regina which kicks off at 12 PM.
