BRISTOL, R.I. - The Norwich University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets (7-25, 14-25, 14-25) in a non-conference bout at Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon at the Paolino Recreation Center.
The Hawks controlled the opening set, rushing out to an early 9-0 lead and preventing the Cadets from garnering any momentum. The second set favored the Cadets after their initial set, trailing by slim margins early before Roger Williams ran away with a late-set rally.
Norwich threatened the Hawks early in the third frame, staying within striking distance and closing the gap to three points on several occasions. Again, however, another late Roger Williams run halted Norwich's momentum, as the hosts captured victory over the Cadets.
Charlotte Johnson (Moultonborough, N.H.) led the team in kills with four, also tallying a block for the Cadets.Â
Lillie Ells (Centerville, Mass.) recorded two aces,
Ava Nihill (Marshfield, Mass.) handed out 13 assists, and
Autumn Parkhurst (Parish, N.Y.) registered a game-high eight digs.
The Cadets will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 15, traveling to Emmanuel College in Boston, Mass., for a 7:00 p.m. Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash at the Jean Yawkey Center.
