RUTLAND, Vt.- The Norwich Men's Golf team had their third consecutive top two finish at this weekend's Castleton Invitational where they took home first place.
After Saturday's round the Cadets held a five-stroke lead over Clarkson in the top position, a lead Norwich would never relinquish. The maroon and gold's efforts were spearheaded by freshman
Harrison Giambattista (Killingly, Conn.) who finished day one second overall with a score of 75. Two places behind him was
Thomas Riddick who shot a 79 with
Cooper Bertrand (Caledon, On.) tied for 11
th with an 83.
During Sunday's round of competition, the Cadets pulled even further ahead of the Golden Knights by finishing the event 11 strokes ahead with Giambattista leading the pack by shooting a 73, the best score from the second round cementing his hold on second place. Bertrand moved up the leaderboard by notching a 76 placing him fifth, while Riddick's 82 placed him sixth.
Over the weekend, the Cadets will compete in their last two events before Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships. Up first will be the Keene Invitational on Sept. 29. Â
