NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University volleyball team endured a narrow 3-0 sweep (24-26, 21-25, 22-25) to Mitchell College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Andrews Hall on Friday night.
The Cadets rallied from an early-game deficit, falling behind, 8-2, to claim a 17-16 lead late in the first set. Norwich had a chance to claim the first set, but could not seal the deal as five-straight from the Mariners gave Mitchell the victory.
The second and third sets were much of the same, as Norwich posed a consistent threat and often led throughout each set, but the Mariners were too much.
Leah Mathewson (North Chelmsford, Mass.) led the way in kills with seven, while
Abby Kanaga (Apopka, Fla.) tallied a game-high three blocks.Â
Gina Caraccio (Churchville, Pa.) tallied 18 assists, while
Autumn Parkhurst (Parish, N.Y.) logged 23 digs.
Norwich will take a week away from action before returning to the friendly confines of Andrews Hall for the lone home tri-match of the season, as the Cadets play host to Emmanuel College (Mass.) at 11:00 a.m. and Elms College at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30.
