STOWE, Vt. - Men's Golf opened the 2023 season with a strong showing at the Badgers Invitational hosted by Vermont State University - Johnson. The invitational was held at Stowe Country Club (Stowe, Vt.). In Coach Cam Clarke's first outing since being named head coach this summer, the team took home a 3rd place finish with a score of 325.
Individually, the Cadets saw both
Cooper Bertrand and
Harrison Giambattista tied at fourth place. Their score of 79 was only six shots off the lead.
Thomas Riddick shot 82 to finish in the top 15. The 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Year
Matt Printup came in at 85 and
David Hubacher finished shooting 91. The field ranged shooting between 73 and 128.
"We are really pleased with our showing in the Badger Invitational," an enthused Coach Clarke explained. "Our freshman players got great experience led by
Harrison Giambattista and
Cooper Bertrand."
Gordon College came away with first place, shooting 308, behind the strength of three of the top six individual scores. Norwich shot 325, only 7 behind second place, while having two of the top six individual scores.
In only the second season after being reinstated as a varsity program, the men's golf team showed excellent improvement both individually and as a team.
The Cadets are immediately back on the course as they host the Norwich Invitational on Saturday September 2nd.
