Women's Soccer: Cadets Battle to Bitter End with Wildcats

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Despite a valiant effort, the Norwich Women's Soccer team dropped their fourth straight decision 3-0 Saturday afternoon to the defending Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Champions from Johnson & Wales.

The Wildcat offensive pressure was relentless throughout as they outshot the Cadets 36-0 (19-0 on goal), but the stellar play of junior goalkeeper Rebecca Karis (Fayetteville, N.C.) kept the game scoreless for a majority of the contest. Karis made 16 saves in her 79 minutes of action, before exiting due to injury. Not long after, Johnson & Wales broke through with a goal from Skyla Landry and would add two more in the final three minutes.

"I'm extremely proud of the effort our team put in today," said Head Coach Jared Cipriano. "We battled hard and made things tough for the other team. Disappointed to give up a goal with 10 minutes left, but still very proud of the team. This is a game we will want to build off of for the coming weeks."

The homestand for the Cadets will continue Wednesday night when they play host to Lasell at 7 PM.
