NASHUA, N.H.- Coming off a game suspended due to lightning over the weekend, the Norwich Women's Soccer team returned to action Tuesday night when they traveled to Rivier where the Raiders were victorious 2-1.
The game was scoreless at the half with Rivier holding a 7-1 edge in total shots but each keeper making a save. However, the Raiders pressed the attack in the second half scoring two goals in 1:36. First came a left footed strike from the top of the box by Jordan Butters, followed by a one-touch by Emily Lizotte off a centering pass from Emily Magoon. However the Cadets responded in the 59
th minute. After being awarded a free kick in the attacking midfield, captain
Lindsey Duggan (Belmont, N.H.) sent the ball to the mouth of the goal, where it careened off
Bella Roy (Weare, N.H.) finding
Antonia Pellon (Pownal, Vt.) to cut the Raider lead in half, where it would stand.
"I thought we came out and played really well in the first half," Head Coach
Jared Cipriano said. "We just had a few let downs in the second half that led to some goals in the second. I liked our fight in battling back. I thought we did a lot of good things tonight, just matter of putting all the pieces together and playing a complete game."
Up next for Norwich, they will return home to host Johnson & Wales on Saturday Sept 16 at 1 PM for the first game of a three game home stand.
