SALEM, Mass. – The Norwich University Women's Ice Hockey team picked up right where they left off against Southern Maine. After dominating possession in Friday night's overtime, the Cadets put the pedal to the metal with an authoritative 11-1 victory over Salem State Saturday afternoon at Rocket Arena.
Just passed the two-and-a-half-minute mark was where the Cadets scored first courtesy of
Ingrid Holstad-Berge (Stavanger, Norway) with her first of two goals. Nineteen seconds later,
Ann-Frederique Guay (St-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Que.) scored the first of her five goals on the afternoon which included two more for a hat trick in the first period. It was all gas, no breaks for Norwich in the opening frame as they held a 7-0 lead at intermission, along with a 27-2 shot advantage and two Viking goalie substitutions.
"We came out ready to compete today," Head Coach
Sophie Leclerc Doherty said. "We were hungry to attack the net, yet patient in ensuring we were creating quality chances. Ann-Fred was electric with her effort and energy once again."
It will be a quick turn around for the Cadets as they will play host to rival Middlebury Tuesday Feb.7 at 7 PM.
