HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Norwich University Baseball team opened their season dropping both ends of their doubleheader against Centenary University Friday afternoon.
Game one was a battle of the pitchers in a seven-inning affair as the two teams combined for five hits. The Cyclones broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI double by cleanup hitter Marty Lucibello. The unearned run was the only blemish on an otherwise stellar performance from
Matt Ingraffia (Lake Grove, N.Y.) who went the distance only surrendering two hits while throwing 82 pitches. In game two, freshman
Geffen Franus (Leesburgh, Va.) drove in the Cadets' first run of the campaign with a home run, and fellow freshman
Nathan Abbott (Freeport, Maine) pitched a scoreless inning.
Up next for the Cadets is a matchup with Houghton University during their spring break trip to Florida. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for noon.
