NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Coming off a tough loss on Tuesday, the Norwich University Women's Ice Hockey team got back on the winning track with a 3-1 victory over William Smith Friday night at Kreitzberg Arena.

It was a defensive struggle with a lot of continuous action in the first period, but the Cadets would break through first with
Mikah Baptiste's (Ottawa, On.) league leading 22
nd goal of the season for the 50
th goal of her collegiate career and 92
nd point. However, the lead was short lived as the Herons tied the game 50 seconds later.
The second period played out much the same as the first with Norwich once again breaking the tie late in the frame with
Ann-Frederique Guay (St-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Que.) getting a shot off the crossbar and in the net to put the Cadets ahead for good. On the game winner
Nikki Lague (Barre, Vt.) tallied her second assist.
In the third Norwich clamped down on the Herons and
Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.) came up with a number of big saves before
Neris Archambault (Pepperell, Mass.) sealed the deal with an empty netter.
"William Smith was relentless tonight with their effort, and challenged our group for the full 60," Head Coach
Sophie Leclerc Doherty said. "We had to adjust and rise to the challenge. We are looking forward to tomorrow's tilt."
Tomorrow's tilt will be the Cadets third meeting with Elmira this season on Senior Day. Puck drop is set for 3 PM with the ceremonies taking place after the game.
