NORTHFIELD, Vt. – In their final game of the regular season, the Norwich University Women's Ice Hockey team fell to Elmira 3-1 on Senior Day at Kreitzberg Arena.

Despite the Soaring Eagles holding the territorial advantage early, it was the Cadets who got on the board first courtesy of senior
Ingrid Holstad-Berge (Stavanger, Norway). The tables turned early in the second period when Elmira's Morgan Mordini scored on a rush, thanks to a questionable line change, to tie the game up 52 seconds into the frame. Mordini would add a second goal later in the period to give the Soaring Eagles the lead.
In the third the Cadets struggled to maintain offense mustering five of their 17 shots. Eventually, Elmira would score their second powerplay goal to put the game out of reach.
"It was a tough one tonight against a team we hope to see again in the near future," Head Coach
Sophie Leclerc Doherty said. "Not the outcome we wanted, but an opportunity to reflect on what we need to do in the playoffs."
Norwich closes the season with a 16-7-2 overall record, and a 14-2-2 conference record which earned them the second seed in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) playoffs. The Cadets will begin the playoffs against seventh seeded Johnson & Wales Saturday afternoon at 3 PM inside Kreitzberg Arena.
