BOSTON, Mass.- After play was suspended on September 9, the Norwich Women's Soccer team completed their game against Emmanuel Sunday afternoon where the Saints emerged with a 3-0 win.
All the way back on that Saturday afternoon in September, Emmanuel struck first early with a goal in the fourth minute. While the Saints were pressing, looking to extend their lead, lightning struck near Roberto Clemente Field delaying the game for two hours and forty minutes. The two sides briefly resumed play, with the home team striking again in the 23
rd minute, before play was suspended five minutes later.
The two sides picked up the action at that point on Sunday afternoon and right after resumption, the Cadets had the early jump with a shot by
Lindsey Duggan (Belmont, N.H.) that was turned aside. In the 58
th minute, the Saints would score their only goal of the day, third of the game, the only blemish for goalkeeper
Kayla Dawson (Brooksville, Fla.), who made 12 saves on the day. As the season winds down, Norwich's next contest will be Oct 18 when they visit Colby-Sawyer for a 3:30 kickoff.
