NORTHFIELD, Vt. – In their return to home ice, the Norwich University Women's Ice Hockey team continued to roll in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) play with a 3-0 shutout of Castleton Saturday afternoon at Kreitzberg Arena completing the season sweep.

The first period ended scoreless with neither team surrendering quality chances. The Cadets would take control in the second period outshooting the Spartans 15-4, and drawing first blood courtesy of junior
Ally LaGue (Barre, Vt.) on a net mouth scramble.
Norwich would add some insurance markers in the third. First came from a short side wrist shot by
Emma O'Neill (Hamburg, N.Y.) after she circled the offensive zone. Lastly was
Mikah Baptiste's (
Ottawa, On.) fifth powerplay goal of the season on an end to end rush. On top of scoring a goal, Baptiste would also notch two assists. In goal,
Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.) stopped all 20 shots she faced for her second consecutive shutout.
"Castleton is a well-coached team who plays tough," Head Coach
Sophie Leclerc Doherty said. "We set out to play a focused game and executed. Leo came up big again and it was great to see our forwards competing and earning their chances."
Coming up next for the Cadets is a home-and-home with New England College. The first game is scheduled for 4 PM at Lee Clement Arena on Jan 27.
