Women's Ice Hockey: Cadets Pour 11 Goals on the Pilgrims

HENNIKER, N.H.- The Norwich University Women's Ice Hockey team took care of business in dominating fashion with an 11-0 shutout victory over New England College Friday afternoon at Lee Clement Arena where seven players recorded two or more points.

The Cadets broke through early as Ingrid Holstad-Berge (Stavanger, Norway) got on the board 1:41 into the contest. As the period unfolded the Cadets would keep pouring on the pressure resulting in two goals in 1:35 by freshman Emma Morel (Tournon, France) and senior Mikah Baptiste (Ottawa, On.). Norwich would take the 3-0 lead into intermission with a 24-1 shot advantage with the Pilgrims tallying their lone shot 16 minutes in.

In the second period the Cadets would keep their foot on the gas pedal, as they would put a five spot on the scoreboard. The first two came within 34 seconds of each other with Baptiste's second of the game, followed by Jillian Jackson's (Fredericton, New Brunswick) first of the season. Ann-Frederique Guay (St-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Que.) scored a goal later on in the frame to go along with her three assists which ended the night for Pilgrims netminder Hannah Podvey. Norwich would add three more in the third period including Jackson's second of the game, while goaltender Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.)  earned her sixth shutout of the season.

"Tonight, was a well-rounded team effort," said Head Coach Sophie Leclerc Doherty. "I thought our offensive zone play was relentless and unselfish. It was fun to watch all five players be a part of the action shift after shift."

The Cadets will look to sweep their home-and-home series with New England College Saturday afternoon at 3 PM in the confines of Kreitzberg Arena.
