The Norwich University Men's Rugby defeated the University of New Hampshire Wildcats Sunday afternoon at the Dog River Rugby Pitch 83-5.
Prior to the match 20 seniors were honored for their contributions to Norwich Rugby. Among the seniors honored were
Will Moulton (Danvers, Mass.) and
Yandres Cintron (Vegabaja, Puerto Rico) who were two of eight different try scorers on the day.
The Cadets started fast with sophomore,
Marius Edwards (Unity, N.H.) converting his own try within 3 minutes into the match. Edwards finished with a game high in points with 22 including 2 tries. Shortly after
Jacob Sherman (Gahanna, Ohio) scored his first of 2 tries of the match with Edwards adding one of his six conversions.
The Cadet defense stood tall smothering the Wildcats with their aggressive rush defense and would play complimentary rugby throughout the match. After holding the fort Cintron tallied his first of two tries with the help of sophomore
Greydon Bleau who received the Warrior Award for his performance including three tries.
Next up for the Dirt Dogs is the NEWCRC Conference Championship against the University of Vermont Saturday, November 5
th at Union Point Sports Complex in Weymouth, Mass. Kickoff is set for 6:15pm.
