NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich University Football team earned their third straight NEWMAC home win as they defeated MIT 21-11 Saturday afternoon at Sabine Field.

Things started out uneven for the Cadets as freshman
Tykell Stewart (Locust Grove, Fla.) fumbled a punt after the Engineers went three and out on their first drive, the turnover was one of four in the first half for Norwich and led to an MIT field goal.
Â
On the ensuing possession, which was the Cadets' first play from scrimmage Quarterback
Mitchell Theal (Elma, N.Y.) found
Trevor Chase (Eliot, Maine) for a 79 yard score. The two would link up for another 79 yard touchdown catch and run in the second quarter giving Norwich the 14-3 lead at halftime. Theal finished the day going 17 for 24 for 277 yards with the two touchdowns and one interception while Chase finished with nine receptions for 205 yards and the twin scores.
Â
In the second half the ground game did the heavy lifting for Norwich as they kept feeding junior
Jehric Hackney (Jehrico, Vt.) who finished with 21 carries for 121 yards while senior
Nate Parady (Saint Albans, Vt.) Â averaged 6.2 yards per carry and had the touchdown in the fourth quarter that sealed the victory.
Â
The defense was the star of the show allowing MIT 263 yards of total offense, 167 on the ground. Junior
Ethan Amburn (Suffield, Conn.) and senior
Matthew Christe (Brookfield, Conn.) each had 11 total tackles, two of Christe's were for a loss.
Patrick Keefe (Andover, Mass) was right there with 10 tackles as well.
