SPRINGFIELD, MASS- The Norwich University Football team got upended by Springfield 69-20 Saturday afternoon at Stagg Field.
It was all downhill early for the Cadets. The Pride marched 68 yards on 10 plays on their opening drive capped off by a
David Wells (Huntington, Conn) touchdown. Wells would go on to have 15 carries for 135 yards and three of Springfield's nine rushing scores. The Pride as a team rushed for 468 yards compared to Norwich's 279 yard of total offense.
Quarterback
Mitchell Theal's (Elma, N.Y.) Â day started out rough by throwing an interception on the Cadets' first play from scrimmage but he settled in afterwards finishing the afternoon going 11 for 26 for 255 yards, three touchdowns and the interception. Also shining for Norwich was freshman receiver
Tykell Stewart (Locust Grove, Ga.) with three receptions for 219 yards and three touchdowns.
The Cadets will look to rebound Saturday when they host MIT. Kickoff is set for noon at Sabine Field.
