NEWTON, Mass. - The Norwich University men's soccer team scored three goals for the third straight game as the Cadets downed Lasell College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon for its first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory of the season.

Norwich (4-3-2, 1-0-2 GNAC) got a goal each from Moab Schiers (South Weber, Utah) and Noah Schiers (South Weber, Utah), as well as one from Matt Hilton (Colorado Springs, Colo.) to stretch the Cadets' unbeaten streak to three straight games.

Senior goalkeeper Billy Whaley (Northfield, Vt.) made four saves to record his first collegiate shutout and his second win in as many starts. Whaley improved to 2-0-0 on the season as well.

Hilton struck in the 17th minute with his second of the season off an assist from Jacob Zimmerman (Litchfield, N.H.) to give the Cadets the only lead they would need. The assist was Zimmerman's second of the season and moved him to 98 points in his career, just two shy of the elusive 100-career point milestone.

Moab Schiers notched his first goal of the season in the 24th minute off a crossing pass from Colin Lozito (Wilmington, Vt.) to up the Norwich lead to 2-0.

Noah Schiers added an insurance marker in the 58th minute with his second goal of the season coming on a shot off a deflection that he buried into the back of the net.

NU improved to 4-1-1 on the season in road games. The highest road win total in a single season by a Norwich team since 2008 is five.

Norwich sits in third place in the GNAC standings with five points after three games. Johnson & Wales is first with seven points. Saint Joseph's (Maine) is second with six points in just two games played.

The Cadets open a stretch of five straight home games on Tuesday, Sept. 27 when they host Plymouth State at 7 p.m. NU will also host Anna Maria at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 to kickoff Parents & Family Weekend.
