Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine – The Norwich University baseball team travelled to Husson University for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles swept the doubleheader taking game one 7-0 and game two 7-1.
In game one Husson struck for one run in the second inning, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Norwich junior Kaleb Smith (Dover Foxcroft, Maine) pitched four innings in a losing effort to fall to 0-3 on the season. He allowed four earned runs on six hits and two walks.
Fellow junior Kyle Farquharson (South Ryegate, Vt.) pitched two innings of relief allowing three earned runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out one batter.
Juniors Brandon Pedley (Northfield, Vt.), Tim Haggerty () and senior John Flanagan registered hits for the Cadets in the loss.
In game two the Eagles put up a five-spot in the bottom of the second inning followed by a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings to garner a 7-0 lead.
Flanagan delivered an RBI single in the top of the seventh inning to end the shutout, but that was as close as the Cadets would get.
Freshman Jacob Ryan (Alrington, Mass.) pitched three innings and allowed five earned runs on six hits and two walks to fall to 0-1.
Fellow freshman Matt Paze (Carlisle, Mass.) pitched three innings of relief allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out three batters.
Pedley, Haggerty, sophomore Eddie Gates (Griswold, Conn.) and freshman Chris Leach (Vergennes, Vt.) all added hits in the contest.
The Cadets fall to 1-13 with the losses and are next in action on March 31st for a non-conference doubleheader at Gordon College. Those games are set for 2 and 5:30 p.m.
