NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's rugby team hosted Boston University in NECRC regular season action on Saturday afternoon at the Dog River Rugby Pitch.
The Cadets emerged victorious with a 26-19 win over the Terriers despite trailing by seven points early in the match.
Sophomore Tom St. Pierre gave Norwich a 5-0 lead just three minutes into the first half and junior Keegan Frick (Thornton, Pa.) added the conversion to make it 7-0.
Boston University then scored two consecutive tries in the sixth and 24th minutes with successful conversions to take a 14-7 lead.
St. Pierre added his second try of the contest in the 37th minute followed by another successful Frick conversion to tie things up at 14 apiece.
Junior Eric Pierone added a try in injury time at the end of the half with yet another Frick conversion to give the Cadets a 21-14 lead heading into halftime.
The Terriers scored a try in the 49th minute but failed on the conversion attempt to cut the lead to 21-19.
Junior Mark Hill iced the game for the Cadets with a try in the 77th minute to stretch the lead to 26-19, which would hold.
Norwich improves to 3-3 in conference play while BU falls to 0-5-1. The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, October 24th when they host the University of Vermont at 1 p.m. at the Dog River Rugby Pitch.
