DURHAM, N.H. - The Norwich University men's rugby team snapped a three match losing streak with a decisive 46-10 win at the University of New Hampshire in NECRC action on Saturday morning.
The Cadets jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the 12th minute on a try by junior Eric Pierone followed by a conversion by junior Keegan Frick (Thornton, Pa.).
The Wildcats cut the defecit to 7-5 in the 16th minute before sophomore Tom St. Pierre scored a try in the 30th minute to give Norwich a 12-5 lead.
Pierone collected his second try of the match at the 37th minute followed by another Frick conversion to give the Cadets a 19-5 lead at the half.
Norwich quickly added to its lead in the 47th and 51st minutes on tries by junior Anthony Candrilli and Frick, respectively, to stretch the lead to 41-5.
The Wildcats scored another try in the 68th minute but the Cadets answered in the 73rd with a try be senior Dan Miller to cap the scoring.
Norwich improves to 2-3 on the season while UNH falls to 0-4-1. The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, October 17th when they host Boston Univeristy in NECRC regular season play. That match is set to start at 1:00 p.m. at the Dog River Rugby Pitch.
