Box Score LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Norwich University men's soccer team won its seventh straight game with a 1-0 road victory over Lyndon State on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Sophomore forward Alec Brigante's (Colchester, Vt.) goal at the 32:40 mark of the first half proved to be the game-winner as Norwich University walked-off with a slim 1-0 victory over upset-minded Lyndon Wednesday at the Lyndon Athletics Field.
After missing out on a few solid scoring opportunities, the Cadets took the lead for good when Colin Lozito (Wilmington, Vt.) chipped the ball across the mouth of the Lyndon goal to Brigante who managed to fight off a Hornet defender and tap a shot into the lower right corner of the goal. Lyndon responded with a several scoring chances of its own, but was unable to score the equalizer.
Norwich goalkeeper Christian Hallstrom (Las Vegas, Nev.) stopped eight shots to earn his ninth victory and fifth shutout of the season while Hornet goalie Jason Marks collected four saves in the contest. Norwich out shot Lyndon by a margin of 14-11.
The Cadets (9-3-1) will host St. Joseph's College of Maine Friday at 7 p.m. while Lyndon entertains Green Mountain College Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
