Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Robert Parson's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eleventh inning plated Ryan McQuade with the winning run of the Lesley University baseball team's thrilling 8-7 extra-inning walkoff victory over visiting Norwich University under the lights Friday, April 6, at Trum Field.
Norwich (3-20) had gained the lead in the top of the eleventh when sophomore shortstop
Devin Cilley (Tunbridge, Vt./South Royalton) drove in junior second baseman
J.J. Losco (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield) with a RBI single to right field to make it 7-6.
The Lynx (5-16) answered right back in the bottom of the frame when John Gosnell hit a sacrifice fly to bring in pinch runner Greg Anglin with the tying run to set up Parson's heroics.
McQuade led the Lesley offense, going 3-for-5 with a triple and a run scored. Parson, Ray Cohen and Andrew Colon all went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored for LU.
Junior catcher
Stephen Beardsley (Olney, Md./Washington Christian) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to pace Norwich at the plate. Sophomore centerfielder
Charles Schaub (East Hampton, Conn./East Hampton) also went 2-for-4, scoring twice.
Senior
Don DiBastiani (White Hall, Md./North Hartford) worked 3.1 innings in taking the loss for the Cadets, his longest outing of the season. Jeff Landry (1-3) picked up the win for Lesley, allowing one run on four hits while striking out three in three innings of relief.
Norwich is off until April 9 when it travels to Plymouth, N.H., to take on Plymouth State in a non-conference matchup. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
