Box Score NEWTON, MASS. – The senior midfielder/attacker combination
of Kacey Abbriano (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Danielle Del Dotto
(Andover, Mass.) helped propel Norwich University to a 14-11 Great
Northeast Athletic Conference win March 24.
Abbriano, who ended the first week of the 2012 campaign with a
sterling 17-goal effort, scored four goals and dished out two
assists for a six-point game. Her first two goals kick-started a
key four-score run that increased the Cadets' lead to 8-3
midway through the first half. Del Dotto posted three of NU's
final four goals to seal the win as part of a four-goal day.
Norwich (3-0 overall, 3-0 GNAC) also received two goals each
from senior attacker Suzanne Whitaker (Chelmsford, Mass.) and
sophomore midfielder Grace Fitzpatrick (Falmouth, Me.). Abbriano
and Del Dotto each had nine shot attempts, and Abbriano registered
a team-best 11 ground balls.
Mount Ida, despite dropping to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in league
play, was guided by Molly Shepard's six goals and two
assists.
The Maroon and Gold, sporting a 20-game conference win skein,
resume their home schedule Thursday, March 29, for a 4 p.m.
non-conference clash against Westfield State College of
Massachusetts at Howard Field. Coach Beth VanParys' team
continues conference play Saturday, March 31, with a 12 p.m.
opening draw at Emerson College of Massachusetts.
